Course FAQ
Are your camps for boys or girls?
All of our camps are co-ed and available to everyone. Both boys and girls have shown interest in the material and have attended our camps.
Will there be "hands-on time" for the kids or is the camp purely informational?
Yes, the camps are definitely hands-on. The kids will be learning techniques and then using those techniques on the computer with our assistance.
How do I know if my computer is powerful enough?
A good rule of thumb is to use a computer that's five years old or newer. If you have any doubt, please install the software prior to registering to ensure it will run well enough.
Where can I get the necessary software for this camp?
You can download and install the latest version of Zoom for free from zoom.us. You'll need to sign in before downloading.
You can download the educational versions of Maya and Mudbox for free from students.autodesk.com. You'll need to create an Autodesk account and then you'll be able to download and install any available version to your PC or Mac.
For Unity, you can download and install the latest personal or educational version from here for free. This will install the latest version of Unity Hub. Once you have launched Unity Hub, you will be able to download and install the latest version of Unity. Be sure to check the box for build support for your computer (Mac OSX or Windows)
Why don't I need to install Tinkercad on my computer?
Tinkercad is a web application and only needs a web browser to run. We will provide accounts for the campers to use so that we can remotely assist, edit and print their models for them.
What can you tell me about the campers' 3D prints?
Your camper will have their choice of which model they would like printed. We will make every effort to print their model at the largest size we can and at a reasonably high quality. Please note: we may need to make adjustments to the model and/or to the quality settings to facilitate a successful print, but we will not stray too far from their original creation.
When will campers receive their 3D printed models?
You can expect to receive your 3d prints several weeks after camp ends. We will ship the models directly to you at no extra charge. Please be sure to specify your shipping address during checkout.
